"Making a podcast isn't cheap"

...says my friend Rachael.

Why does she say that? Because she's doing a show on spotted animals called ladybugs (ladybirds in England, where's she's based out of). She's got a handful of shows already online and some of those shows are with interviews with other podcasters and researchers.

This chick has done her own research, as much as she tries not to butcher Latin names of specific ones as well as whatever they're called in other countries, she makes sure she gets it as close to the real pronunciation as possible.

I did laugh the other day, when I was listening to one of the 15 minute audio clips (she typically runs under half an hour). She was trying to get more listeners and promoting her Patreon page. She wants to be able to continue to look after these little creatures and be able to talk about them, but "making a podcast isn't cheap" so she signed up for Patreon with the hopes she can gain a few more followers. Last time she talked about the sign up site, she was looking for a cup of coffee. This broad is moving up in the world, apparently!

So look her up at:

And on a relative side note:

I picked up a pair of JLab Audio JBuds Air Sport True Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds about 2 weeks ago, roughly. They're $69 everywhere - no matter if it's on Amazon or in a big box retailer... I picked them up in a local store, that's why I know the price is the same.

Man... seventy bucks on a pair of headphones... what have we come to in this world? That's a lot of money to be able to listen to sound from a phone.

And yes! From A Phone! *facepalm*

Gone are the days when I was using Realistic Nova cans for a lot of (home | recording) needs.

I needed to try something new - my wired headphones broke close to a year ago (and ftw it was the Apple branded ones too... the kind that come with your $600+ iPhone).

I've run the gamut of cheap ear speakers. Last pair I started using, and am alternating with, is something that looks similar to this. They've lasted quite a while, and they still last. I just thought I'd look at something different because I've really been looking at the true wireless headphones, but couldn't warrant the expenditure. Truth be told, the reason I got the JLab ones, is because I used Christmas money.

They've been working out decently enough so far; I've only had to charge the case once since buying them, which is a good thing. The headphones themselves charge in the case, so that's nice they don't drain the overall battery. They fit like hearing aids which is weird for me, since I don't have those yet. Guess it'll get me used to the eventual need...? The sound quality can be a bit tinny in some spots, but I'm still trying to work out what level of tap on each side means what. Left headphone has some specs and the right has other specs. Long taps mean one thing, short burst taps are another. I'm not there yet with remembering what is what.

I guess the overall review is wait a little longer to see what happens.

Gotta go... make sure you check out my friend Rachael in England and follow her. She likes that stuff.

*Poke* fresh pin!

Yet another few weeks go by and I've seemingly pinned more stuff to random Pinterest boards than I'd like to admit to.

I keep finding stuff on Amazon that I'm finding hysterically charged funny or stupid. Between the "I'm Fat But Identify As Skinny I'm Trans-Slender" t-shirt in my Pinterest | "Clothes / Fashion" | "#smartass" board to the entire Pinterest | "For The Home" | "Bathroom Edition" board.

Simple minds = crazy boards.

Quick post because I wanted to check in but I've got to check out, as I'm due to meet people in 10 minutes.

I guess if you have the Pinterest app, you can scan the following picture and it takes you to my main feed. If not, the link is right under the picture.... ?  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Happy Pinning and have fun...

"All the pretty things are going to hell"

Well... I got some interesting emails the last 2 days.

Roku decided to drop all the incarnations of Fox from their line up.

Yup. You read right. Middle of the week, just days before one of America's biggest sports games of the year, Roku made a surprising announcement that they are swiping left on Fox. Fox, in return, sent an email stating "it's not us; it's them.. we found out when you did".

Don't believe me?

So... Making the cutoff date of midnight, January 31, 2020, all Fox apps were no longer going to reside in the land of the purple button'd, purple logo'd streaming device. No reasoning behind it, outside of "We wanted to let you know....", Roku's version of a "Dear John" letter.

Speculations can be made... things can be excused... but there are far more apps to cancel, if you want to start messing around with things. Remember the Spike TV app? Yea, that lasted a hot minute.... now that Spike changed his name to Paramount. Which still doesn't have an app.

I guess Fox raised hell about this ordeal over night, as this morning I got emails from Roku and Fox saying they reconciled their differences and Roku will host Fox again.

The only argument I can see Fox giving Roku about this, would be the amount of balls it takes to sever a group such as Fox, just 3 days before one of the greatest branded cash cows in U.S. sports.

Think about it - all the money that gets poured in to making the halftime show, the various brands and their new ads, the betting houses, the teams... Americans go all out for football and spare no expense to make sure our wallets get emptied and our bellies get full.

With the clever marketing teams these days... they're getting slier by the year... I often wonder how reports say businesses are losing money. If they didn't wait for 3 specific "holidays" (Black Friday, Christmas, Super Bowl), there wouldn't be store closings.

I don't know.. I'm talking randomly now. Who's guess as to reasons behind things, I'll never understand. But I thought it was surely interesting that one day, Roku wants to change their formatting, and the next day, they double back and say sorry.

Weird.

Don't get too stuffed, drunk and high off whoever wins this weekend. You still have to go to work Monday.

Cheers;
