I decided to take a field trip to where I currently work to take some pictures. Because the snowbirds are back, what a nice pollution surprise I received when I was on the 6th and 8th floor of some of the apartment buildings to take my photos. I was still able to capture the miles of mangroves and urban jungle (aka Sanibel, Fort Myers, Captiva and Cape Coral), but there was a fog of sorts prohibiting me from seeing a lot of Fort Myers Beach in the early set of pictures. The wind was also strong this morning, so it was interesting keeping steady to take the photos. You'll notice the wind pick up in some of the pictures.
Therefore, due to the smog and try as I might, the editing is not so hot. It's a WYSIWYG for half of my photos because I'm on a lousy Dell Inspiron and have yet to lay down the cheddar for a quality spyder / munki. Sometimes I never know if it's the dirt spots in my camera or it's the embedded pixel dirt spots in my monitor. If I hook up my laptop to my TV, I usually edit better that way, but then it's looking different on another computer. I can't win because I'm lazy. And pretty skint for what I need to do to be successful in photo editing / posting. I also need to update my camera. I've got noticeable dust spots that are internal to the camera and not the lenses. To add insult to injury, the electronics for the normal lens has been acting up for the better part of a year. Every once in a while I get an error message that there's no communication between the lens and the camera, so I've got to take the lens off, wipe the electronics, put lens back on and snap away. It's ridiculous and I know I don't have the terminology to explain it either, so don't laugh at me.
I think the fog adds to the photos; my excuses are reasonable. 😉
My process of the pictures (besides using a Canon EOS Rebel T3 Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens, and alternating with the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Telephoto Zoom Lens):I started in one of the first buildings you come to in the community. I made my way up to the sixth floor, put my gear together and started taking the photos. Then I went to three subsequent buildings, one with an eighth floor view, one with a second floor view and one with a ground level view. I then went to another area of the same part of the cluster of buildings to take the gazebo pictures. Off I go with my gear to another part of the community (this place is massive), and I'm on a beach watching a woman do her morning yoga with the ocean. I found a (dog's? kid's?) toy strung by its neck in a hut. That was weird. I tried getting a couple dolphins on film, but semi failed. You'll see their fins dive into the water.
All in all, I spent about two hours roaming the grounds while the church people were in their services, so I couldn't get into the building to take a couple pictures of the way the sanctuary reminds me of a 1970s/1980s televangelist session waiting to happen. Even some of the crew I work with, say the same thing, It's all good though, we still do our job and make magic happen.
Pictures or I wasted my day for naught.
The pictures on the balconies where I can see for miles (for some reason the pictures got renamed out of order... ugh!):
I used to work in that building that looks like it's being cut in half by the Causeway |
Pictures roaming around on the pier from the view of the top floors:
Pictures of the gazebo and it's surroundings (trees). The picture with the square box on the pole is what the state supplies for the osprey population. It's what the birds build their nests on. Too bad no one is home today (I think the birds are still trying to rebuild from the hurricane. I've seen empty boxes on the highway as well):
Pictures on another pier, looking for dolphins:
I'll fly away... on American Airlines? |
Last but not least, combing the beach and spotting the yogi (toy committing suicide and all):
That's it for now. Hope my adventure looks fun for my readers!
Behave...
Cheers;

Two throwbacks to when I was writing my novel sequel... what a coincidence they were played back to back!
