The price is right... up

I'm watching a weird movie as I type this. I'm all of 34 minutes in and am like "this started off weird as hell and is getting right on track with the crazy train service line".

It's one of those "let's hop on the quarantine / pandemic bus and make a scary movie filmed primarily through [name your device here]". Got to love how real world problems can help low budget production houses thrive by making thrillers. I've seen a few Covid-19 videos that play off our worries. Doesn't matter if it's "found footage" or a for real big money edited job. Someone's trying to capitalize on making us crap our pants in less than 2 hours.

But that's not the point of my writing today.

I wanted to comment on how I was just looking on Amazon for the Orgain Organic Plant Based Protein + Superfoods Powder

I was getting it at Costco for the past few months and it was relatively cheap compared to the other retail stores' selling price (Costco members were paying $23.99 vs any other store selling from $29.99 and over, And some of the stores don't carry the 2 pound tub, but sell smaller sizes for $25).

In a way, I know I was paying the difference in cost by driving to Sarasota, but I was also visiting people. It was just a happenstance of a coincidence that they are a warehouse member and don't mind taking me for a ride. When I heard someone say that the local warehouse is selling the product for $30 before tax, I was curious because I'd been buying it for less, 90 minutes away. The next time I went to the Sarasota Costco, sure enough, it was thirty bucks.

That didn't stop me from buying two tubs as I'm not a warehouse member and I was already committed to being in the store and buying other items.

I'm now surprised that Amazon has it for a penny less. Free shipping and with Prime membership, it would be here by Monday... if I decided to order myself a tub. A penny saved is a penny earned, but I am a bit on the fence on buying it now (online) due to the fact I'll be in Sarasota in 2 weeks and don't need a tub now. I can very well ask to go to the warehouse and spend the extra penny plus tax and get it, but what else do I need from the store? I mean, if all I need right now is the powder because I've still got an unopened case of coconut water, it makes sense to just bite the bullet and order from Amazon. Especially since the online retailer is the seller as well. Money back guarantee and all...

Not going to lie... I seriously am sitting here almost putting it in my cart. One of those "screw it... just do it" situations. I like this powder, as much as it's keeping me full a solid 4 hours after drinking it, it's not one of those things where I'm finding myself losing weight. It's a breakfast / meal replacement for me, so I'm not looking for a "zomg" drastic change.

The ingredient list is good because I'm getting some healthy benefits in it such as various sprouts (Amaranth Sprout, Quinoa Sprout, Millet Sprout, Buckwheat Sprout, Garbanzo Bean Sprout, Lentil Sprout, Adzuki Sprout, Flax Sprout, Sunflower Sprout, Pumpkin Sprout, Chia Sprout, Sesame Sprout).

It has various fruits and veggies (Acai, Cranberry, Banana, Mango, Beet, Carrot, Spinach, Broccoli, Tomato, Kale, Cabbage, Parsley Leaf, Brussels Sprout, Green Bell Pepper, Cucumber, Celery, Garlic, Ginger Root, Green Onion, Cauliflower, Asparagus, Pineapple, Turmeric, Strawberry, Tart Cherry, Blackberry, Blueberry, Raspberry).

The list is slightly longer, so everything else mixed in is a bonus. Which makes the whole situation more of a conundrum to "buy now" rather than drive around to find a friend with a card.

I guess I'll have to keep a tub in my cart and see if I end up going to the warehouse in a couple weeks. Otherwise I know I can certainly buy this ASAP and know it'll be at my door as it's currently in stock.

Oh... and side note: I used the Starbucks version of the Bodum Bean Sustainable French Press Coffee Maker today for the first time. I went all posh and acquired 400 stars through the java chain and "bought" my mom the press. She's been loving it and I've not had coffee from it yet. So I tried it today. Using Haitian Coffee (Vienna Ground) as the coffee, it is actually quite smooth. Once cooked / steeped / whatever, in my glass I topped off the coffee with Silk Oat Milk. Which gave it a light flavor without taking away from the actual coffee. I would definitely have to try out other bagged coffee in this... it's not at al acidity or sour. It is smooth enough that as it's getting cold next to me, it still tastes pretty decent. Add a couple ice cubes and I'll have iced coffee!

Cheers
