If you were to scroll the radio...

... and come up with all quick Saturday songs...

.. what would you get?

Mind you, if you scroll the dial, the songs must land directly on the word "Saturday".

Also, this is not a complete list.

What got me started in thinking a certain weekend day songs?

A science fiction cult movie... that has had a recent death (okay, 2 months ago) in its acting family (Meatloaf). I had Hot Patootie / Bless My Soul in my head since last night, seeing how I went searching through my closet for something and there was my Vital Toys Rocky Horror Picture Show Action Figures.

A three pack that wasn't a night out: Columbia, Frank N Furter, Riff Raff.

Not to mention that somewhere stashed away is a single Frank. Opened.

I remember buying them in Sam Goody at the Westgate Mall at some point back in 2000. I think Goody turned into FYE at some point, but I could stand corrected.

However, the figures aren't readily available these days on Amazon. There is a Riff Raff single figure selling for $45

I swear I didn't pay that for the threefer when I bought it.. I never would have.

It just means now they are more a collectible item, and it's a shame that the plastic on the box I own is smushed as well as the cardboard outer box is torn. Might have been worth some money at some point. 😦☹

I guess it only calls for a quick jump to the left and a step to the right, as a midnight Saturday showing has long been forgotten.

I've only seen this show performed live, once, and that was in Cambridge. Happened to be with my youth group in the early to mid 1990s. We did the Saturday into Sunday romp on Battle Street (Harvard Square) and went back to our religious center to sleep off the shenanigans that only teenagers can get into while being barely supervised and having no access to liquor or drugs.

That I know of / saw.

I remember half the kids lied when asked if we were new to the show. Meaning, if you've never been privy to the live stage rendition, you got a red V on your forehead, made with lipstick.

Probably Revlon, but who asked the brand at the time? It was more likely something cheap as it was easy to mark people with. All some of us cared was the try of scratching it off.

Much like a scarlet letter sewn into the cloth of a woman, the V marked the virgins from the crowd so the audience participation would be a little more fun and skewed to those "not in the know". Therefore, when it was time for certain scenes or an intermission, the newbs got the brunt of a tortuous piece of entertainment.

If you can make yourself a scarce newcomer in a packed auditorium, you can stand back and watch every truth speaking first timer go up and make an absolute pleasure joke out of themselves. I vaguely remember blown up balloons between the knee caps of my peers.

Remember kids, this is a memory of over 25 years ago!

I don't know where I'm going with this. I'm just piecing together a few different topics of the same information. Don't mind my thought train stopping at every station and burning more coal.

It's too bad VH-1 only shows the movie every Halloween because commercials take the joy out of the film. But then again, I wonder if the channel still plays it, as it's been years since I've sought it out to watch on All Hallows Eve. Also, commercials don't allow you to concentrate that much on what you're watching since the station needs paid time.

Can they pay me for not flipping to something else for 2-5 minutes?

Please?

I should probably watch the movie again one of these days. Much like I keep saying to myself to watch Some Like It Hot on Valentine's Day like I used to. Things and times change and you forget your rituals. I'm a bad person. I know that.

But at least I have the reminders of days gone by to reflect on.

Until more impressions are made...

Cheers!
