Where there is power…

… There is no internet.

As I start typing this, it is 7:17am. I am using my phone again due to Hotwire being down. We do have power, just not internet.

Of all ISPs, this Hotwire is headquartered in Sarasota. So they are more than likely under water since Milton touched down and dropped his bags at 8:30pm yesterday in Siesta Key. Which means the Sarasota / Bradenton area got the partial impact because Milty struck just over the ten miles of the projected target of Tampa.

So this also means even though we currently have electricity in the house we are in, there’s no way to watch regular programming on the tv because Hotwire is supposed to be fiber optics. And it relies on Wi-Fi. There are no cables inside the houses at all. It’s a modem in your laundry room or garage, an eero mesh extender, and HDMI cables if you want television.

Therefore, no catching the news.

The pipes work so we can use the toilets and take a wipe down shower. There’s no flood water outside on the street but we don’t know yet what our house looks like.

It has taken me 20 minutes to write this because I got squirreled. My mom wants to try to walk to our house to see what’s going on. So when we get back, or sit back down, I will write again. But for now we are okay.

Cheers.
